What makes KWM worth our investment?
So why should you make an investment in KWM Entertainment? What makes it worthwhile? Well, you know how they always say you get what you pay for – choosing the entertainment for your wedding is no different. It’s worth making an investment in an experienced DJ who has time-tested skills and talents, to ensure that your reception never falls in the “dull and boring” category. An investment-worth DJ has the ability to read your crowd and match it with exactly the right music to take your party up a notch.
Additionally, avoiding a cheap wedding DJ means you’re getting great value for your money. The right kind of wedding DJ company devotes their lives to their work – their commitment to additional staffing, professional equipment, exceptional quality music, and insurance translates into an experience that often exceeds the expectations of brides- and grooms-to-be. A good DJ company is one that provides such valuable resources as multiple face-to-face consultations and a wealth of experience. Think you’ll find that with an amateur DJ who emcees weddings as a weekend hobby? Think again.
And finally, choosing to invest in KWM Entertainment for your wedding is a choice that will assure you that the person who will serve to guide the events of such an important occasion will do so in a manner that is professional, polite, and in agreement with your wishes. No one likes a runaway DJ who steals the show from the newlyweds!
You can be assured that each DJ is highly polished and energetic. We believe to be a successful disc jockey requires 100% musical expertise, 100% customer service satisfaction, and 100% professionalism. Remember, cheaper isn’t always better – sometimes it’s just too important to cut corners! We invite you to experience the difference and if it sounds like you’re ready to make this type of investment on the most important day of your life –take the first step today. How far in advance should book our wedding?
Planning a wedding is all about having a system complete with checklists of items that you need to do before your big day. The most popular venues, photographers, and DJs will all book up faster than some of the less popular companies and options. We always refer to these as “the big three”. Once you book these three wedding vendors, the rest can more easily fall into place as time goes on. A popular, reputable DJ company will book between 12 and 18 months in advance, but it’s not uncommon for the months of May/June/September/October to start booking 24 months in advance. This is all assuming that the engagement period is long enough to support these timelines. Every year we see couples that are only doing a 12 month (and sometimes less) engagement, and those last-minute weddings will always happen too. After all, if two people are so in love that they don’t want to wait – why not go for it! Depending on availability some dates remain open until the month before. So if you're planning an event for next month, it's worth it to check our availability. Please see our contact page by clicking here.
Are KWM DJs interactive?
We’ll let you decide how much interaction you would like from us. We can be completely conservative, completely outgoing, or anywhere in between. Our DJs, realize that this is your event and they will only be as interactive as you want them to be.
Normally, we're only as interactive as necessary to keep your guests having a good time on the dance floor. In any case, you'll never hear one of our DJs yelling, screaming, or even singing over the microphone. Most parties call for a DJ with eloquent emcee skills and the wisdom to use words sparingly. Even at our most outgoing level, we still remain extremely professional and never steal the spotlight. We promise that we will never embarrass you or your guests. We take great pride in not being that stereotypical DJ.
Do your DJs carry backup equipment?
Although we test the equipment before leaving for each show we do always have backup equipment with us. If a component were to fail, it could easily be switched on-location to avoid interruption in your event.
Is music selection an option at our event?
Of course! We encourage our clients to let us know a bit about their taste in music and their musical desires for their event. Our recommendation to our clients is to make their list from categories of: 'must play songs', ‘songs they would like to hear if there is time"! We try to encourage our clients to select at least 10-15 songs that they would like played. A reputable DJ will always want input from their clients to help make the event special to them!
Do you take requests from guests?
Some DJs take requests, and some don’t. We actually leave this one up to our clients. We’ll talk to our clients and ask them what they want us to do. Some say they want us to take requests and some say they don’t. Even if they tell us to take requests, we are always very careful never to play something similar to a song that might have been listed on the do not playlist. Also, we use our judgment when it comes to requests. If it’s a great song, sure, we will play it. If it’s a song we know will clear the dance floor, we’ll stay away from it. The DJs goal is the same as the clients that hired them. DJs want the dance floor filled with people as much as possible!
Can we request a "do not play" list?
Yes. Sometimes the do not playlist is equally important or more important than the request list itself! We understand that you don't want to hear the song you and your "ex" danced to, or maybe you've been to one too many weddings lately and are sick of the typical wedding songs. And if a guest requests a song that is on your "do not play" list, we will politely and diplomatically recommend another choice.
What if we want a song that you don't have?
Although we have an extensive music library of songs from the 1940s up until today’s current hits, there might be a song that we don’t own. In this rare circumstance, please request the song/songs while booking your event and we will do our best to obtain the selections.
Will my guest be able to socialize, or will the music be too loud?
The volume will be set to appropriate levels at all times during the event. During cocktails and lunch/dinner we play music softly enough so that guests can carry on conversations without having to shout. When it’s time to dance, the music is made louder, but not painfully so. Usually, we are right on the money with our volume settings, but if you should ever find it to be either too loud or too soft, tell us and we’ll adjust the volume level to your preference.
Do your DJs take breaks throughout the event?
Our DJ services are non-stop! From our scheduled start time to when you tell us to stop, we’ll never pause to take a break. Unlike bands that stop and rest frequently throughout the night, we can just keep on going and going!
Can we come view a live event?
Unfortunately, we do not have the authorization to permit live event viewing at the various facilities we work at. Also keep in mind that no two events are alike and everything is catered around your needs. If you’ve seen one of our DJ’s doing the chicken dance upon client request, it doesn't mean we have to play it at your event.
In the same sense, we NEVER invite prospects to private parties. This tactic is unprofessional and unethical. We do not invite people to crash your party to see us perform. We will provide references upon your request. This is a great way to learn more about us and see what it’s like to work with us.
How far will KWM Entertainment travel?
We primarily cater to anywhere in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the Delaware area but will travel further if need be. There will never be any travel fees.
Are we obligated to feed the DJ?
The answer is completely up to you. Our only request is that you let us know either way ahead of time. This way we can make arrangements if necessary. With setup and takedown time, we'll often be at your event for nearly eight hours. If you choose to provide a meal for the DJ, we'd greatly appreciate it.
Does your company carry insurance?
We're protected under our $1 million dollar liability insurance policy (the industry standard).
Are there any setup or breakdown fees that we are required to pay?
Companies in our category know what it takes to get the job done. It’s our opinion that there should never be any fees for setting up or breaking down.
Is tipping/gratuity expected from the DJ?
We charge a professional rate for a professional service. By no means is tipping/gratuity mandatory or expected. If at the end of the night you feel the DJ has surpassed your expectations and you want to tip him, we would accept it as the utmost compliment. But you're under no obligation to do so.
Do you require a deposit and when is the final payment due?
Most companies like KWM will require a deposit to secure the date and services. The balance would be due two weeks prior to your event. We would be wary of any company that asks for 100% payment upfront or offers you some “back-door” discount if you pay in full months or years in advance.
Is there sales tax or any other fees applied to your services?
There is no sales tax added to our services. This means your total package price will be the absolute final price. We have no other additional charges applied to our services unless your event has some extraneous circumstances that are out of the ordinary (i.e. carrying the equipment up a circular staircase). If this is the case, please contact us and we'll furnish you with an exact quote.
Are your rates negotiable through price matching or other discounts?
Our rates are based on our cost of doing business as well as the value we place on the job. We take all events seriously and attend to each in a professional manner. We're confident you will find our prices to be exceptionally competitive. If our prices are a bit more than you planned to spend, just remember the old saying, "you get what you pay for." When you book our services you're not only paying for incredible DJ entertainment and top-of-the-line equipment, you're paying for peace of mind and professionalism.
